Children in Derby who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals are being encouraged to secure their free summer holiday club places as the popular Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme launches its summer bookings.
Running throughout the school summer break, the scheme is open to children from reception age to year 11 who receive benefits-related free school meals, delivered in partnership by Derby City Council and Community Action Derby with funding from the UK Government.
Activities on offer
There's no shortage of things to get involved in, including animal handling, climbing, music, performing arts, archery, skateboarding and lots more.
Every child who takes part will enjoy a nutritious meal each day, alongside sessions designed to teach them about healthy eating from hands-on cookery to family food experiences, supporting both children and their families in making positive lifestyle choices.
How to book
Eligible families will be contacted automatically by Holiday Activities via email or text with a new voucher code and a link to book their place. Please note that any previously issued codes will no longer be valid, so look out for your updated one.
66 clubs across every ward in Derby
This summer will see 66 clubs operating right across the city, with provision available in every ward. Six providers specialise in supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and many other clubs are also equipped to accommodate children with additional needs.

My Messy Play (ages 5–11) at Mickleover Community Pavilion
A packed programme of messy play, arts and crafts, sensory experiences, team games and challenges, plus outdoor play and movement activities — with plenty of opportunities to explore, create and make new friends.
High Hopes Project (ages 8–16) at Alter Rock
Indoor climbing, bouldering, abseiling, air walk (high-level trim trail) and caving. An exhilarating mix of adventure and challenge for older children and teens.
