DDO Review of The Hungry Trolls Christmas Dinner

DDO Blogger Natalie and her family went to see 'The Hungry Trolls Christmas Dinner' over the weekend and here is their review!

"It can be tricky to find a festive family day out that pleases a four year old and a fourteen year old as well as mum and dad but thanks to DerbyDaysOut, Derby LIVE and The Babbling Vagabonds, 'The Hungry Trolls Christmas Dinner' did just that and more!

The production which lasted around an hour and 15 minutes was the perfect mix of humour, singing, puppetry, shadows, festive feels and a heartwarming story.

It followed a heartless troll and his snail, Matthew, who's cunning plan was to turn into the school cook so he can eat 'kiddlies' for his Christmas dinner. But as the story unfolds and an unlikely friendship between the troll and a school child called Tina unfold, you start to wonder if the troll is actually heartless after all or could he possibly be...kind?

The Babbling Vagabonds never fail to deliver fabulous, family friendly, festive fun and this year is no different. Audiences young and old alike will love watching this show and be warned, the songs are catchy so be prepared to sing along. Expect platefuls of great jokes and brilliant slapstick comedy which had my 4 year old laughing her head off! Custard pie anyone?! We were absolutely full to the brim with festive cheer after watching this fantastic show.

We enjoyed being able to purchase drinks from the bar outside to take in and enjoy whilst watching and also the festive market which is taking place outside the venue added to the experience. Plus a great chance to get some festive photos in the giant, lit up presents outside the venue.

As a family we absolutely recommend going to watch this show this Christmas and would love to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved for putting on such a great show for the people of Derby."

The show runs until 30 December, Tickets are £14.
BSL signed performances are the 10th and 12th December and a relaxed performance takes place on the 11th December.
