Sleeping Beauty is casting a spell over Derby for Christmas 2020 - Derby Days Out Blog

Derby LIVE and Little Wolf Entertainment are excited to bring Derby audiences a brand new spin on a much-loved yarn for Christmas 2020 with a spellbinding new pantomime at Derby Arena.

The royal family and doting Dame are preparing for the christening of the baby Princess. Wicked fairy Carabosse, the thorn in the family’s side, isn’t included in the guest list. When she finds out, she is furious and sets out to ruin their happiness. As the Princess falls into a 100-year sleep and overgrown trees surround the castle, it is up to the dashing Prince to hack his way through and rescue his sweetheart.

With daring duels, doting dragons, lavish sets and costumes and bucket loads of laughs, the team behind Jack and the Beanstalk and Peter Pan are back to lift the spell over Derby with this magical new pantomime. 2019 was a huge success with Peter Pan attracting the largest audience so far for a pantomime at Derby Arena, delighting over 35,000 people, including more than 16,000 children.

The talented cast, including Emmerdale and Coronation Street’s Bill Ward, and Katrina Bryan from CBeebies' Nina and the Neurons and Molly & Mack, wowed audiences with fabulous musical numbers and spectacular flying sequences over the crowds.

Peter Pan received exceptional reviews: “Peter Pan is a panto that soars above the rest and has the arena buzzing with excitement from start to finish.” – Derbyshire Times “…..absolutely captivating for the little ones with glittering stage sets, special effects, fabulous costumes, marvellous singing and wonderful dancing!” – Lots for Tots “Beautifully performed, and magical in every way… a show that upped the ante from sceneto-scene.” – Derby Telegraph “…..the most enjoyable, hilarious and entertaining show I and my two friends have ever seen. The only words I can use to describe it are phenomenal and magical!” – customer feedback.

Sleeping Beauty will be on stage at Derby Arena from Saturday 5 December to Thursday 31 December with tickets priced from £14.75. Discounted early-bird tickets are on sale now, offering a saving of £2 when you book before 31 October helping you plan next year’s festive treat!
