I'm a mum of 2 and currently on maternity leave so I'm always looking for a bargain day out to entertain my very lively 3 year old and to keep the 4 month old happy.
We travelled 40 minutes today to get just outside Derby near Sherwood Forest to Robin Hoods Wheelgate Park. They had an offer on, if you dress as Superheroes you get free tickets for their sister park Twinlakes Park in Melton Mowbray. So off we went in masks and capes. We booked on-line to get a discount anď it goes on childrens height rather than age. £10.75 for each adult and Flo was too tall to be free and cost £8.05. You can a;so purchase tickets on the door.
The weather has been so bad I was attracted to Wheelgate as it advertised to have lots indoors too.
We arrived as it opened and left as it closed and still didn't do everything! We were lucky with the weather and managed to go on all of the outside rides that were age appropriate (which was most of them). Despite the weather only a few rides were closed. It was perfect for a 3 year old- its the first place I've been where she could go on nearly everything.
The whole place is a little tired looking and could do with a good lick of paint but that didn't effect a very fun filled day. There were plenty of inside rides and soft play for small ones and older ones. We took our own packed lunch and there were plenty of places to sit but i was impressed with how reasonable the prices were with jacket potatoes only being £3.
Flo particularly loved the little house village with school, shop, church and lots more. There was a big maze, crazy golf and a whole farm area with a schedule of events including small animal handling. We didnt have to queue for anything even though it was half term. Staff were friendly and there were no extra costs for anything other than 50p for animal feed.
We are genuinely looking forward to taking her back in the nice weather when the water park is open!"
The attraction is situated on Mansfield Road, Farnsfield, Newark NG22 8HX
