Do you want your child to learn to swim this New Year? Or do you want to learn to swim yourself?
Derby Active Learn to Swim courses take place at Queen’s Leisure Centre located in Derby City Centre, in the Cathedral Quarter. The scheme follows the Swim England Learn to Swim framework, which is the National Governing Body for swimming.
You can join Derby Active Learn to Swim lessons at any time, as our courses run for 48 weeks each year and each person progresses at their own level.
Our Swim Ducklings lessons are suitable for three and four year olds with a parent in the water to teach the basics for Stage 1.
Learn to Swim stages 1 to 7 follow the Swim England National Teaching Plan to help your child develop a range of skills, confidence and stroke techniques.
Our Learn to Swim courses for Older Children course teaches swimming techniques and water confidence to children aged 10 and over who missed learning to swim when younger.
Our Learn to Swim courses for Adults provides confidence and skills to help adults enjoy swimming again, whether they are a complete beginner or lack confidence whilst in water. We provide Adult Learn to Swim sessions regardless of age and ability, based on the Swim England Adult Swimming Framework.
Swimming is a great activity to help you get active and can improve flexibility, co-ordination, strength, stamina and heart and lung fitness, and is a great way to relax or to spend time with friends and family.
