The Easter Holidays is a great time to get out and enjoy all that spring has to offer, and the team at In Derby have lots of fun activities planned to keep you and your little ones busy throughout the whole two weeks. Whether you’re looking for something outdoors to make the most of that fresh spring air, or want some indoor activities in case of the rain, we have fun for all the family in all weathers!

Throughout the Easter Holidays, from Saturday 4 to Sunday 19 April, you can become an explorer in the Easter Egg Hunt Trail at Markeaton Park. Pick up a trail sheet at the Mundy Play Centre Kiosk and go on the hunt for Easter Eggs. Using the map to help, can you find all six eggs hidden around the park?

On Saturday 18 April, join us for the St George’s Day Celebrations filled with English eccentricity.Follow the parade from The Spot to the Market Place, enjoying folk music and dancing – oh, and lots of dragons! At the Market Place, watch The Lost Boys re-enact the legend of St George in their own, humorous style, join in the dancing and even try jousting. The fun is from 11am to 3pm. Enjoy the great outdoors at Markeaton Park.The newly improved Skyline High Ropes course is the ultimate family adventure with various rope courses, obstacles, a leap of faith and a zip-line. To book, call 01629 534561.

If heights aren’t for you, why not visit the Mundy Play Centre Kiosk to pick up a voucher book for a whole host of other activities on offer at the park. Choose between the 9 or 18 hole new Mini Golf courses, leap with excitement on the Bouncy Castles, or zoom around on the Electric Cars. At Markeaton Park you will also find the Adventure Galley ship – a large pirate ship playground everyone can enjoy for free!

Make a splash at Queen’s Leisure Centre with lots of fun sessions in their pools. Enjoy the Atlantis Splash Run with the giant inflatable that stretches the full length of the Gala pool. Suitable for ages five and up, it is full of fun obstacles to scramble over and thrilling slides. Sessions are on Mon 6, Wed 8 and Wed 15 Apr. Run the gauntlet in the new Float Run Splash on Fri 17 Apr, or enjoy inflatables and toys in our Family Splash sessions that run throughout the holidays. If you’re looking for variety for your holiday activities, get sporty at Springwood Leisure Centre withTay Play’s Multi-Sport Camp. 5-11 year olds can have fun and make great memories with a range of different sports led by the enthusiastic TayPlay coaches. The sports camps runs from Mon 6 to Thu 9 Apr andTue 14 to Fri 17 Apr. To book, visit tayplaysport.class4kids.co.uk. Derby County Community Trust is also running a Multi-Sport Camp at Derby Arena fromTue 7 to Thu 9 Apr. Give your child the fantastic opportunity to try out new sports such as football, cricket and rounders on the indoor courts. Suitable for children from reception to year 6, you can book by calling 01332 416140.

Many families enjoy cycling together, and at Derby Arena you can take your cycling experience up a gear. Family Track Cycling offers everyone from age 9 upwards the chance to ride the Velodrome track under the guidance of our qualified coaches. No experience is needed, and you won’t need to bring anything, just wear trainers. Sessions are from £20 for one adult and one child under 16, and are on Mon 6, Fri 10 and Mon 13 Apr. For the younger children, Balance Bikes are the best way to learn to ride a bike with confidence.
